WHAT'S NEW IN AQUATEC 98
Simplified Operation
AQUATEC '98 is a great deal simpler to use than previous versions of AQUATEC. This has
in no way compromised the technical selection and evaluation capabilities of AQUATEC. Windows Version
AQUATEC '98 will run under Windows 3.1, Windows '95, Windows '98 and Windows NT. Along
with the advantages of being mouse driven, there have also been some major improvements to
the user interface as a result of the windows environment. Users who favour the keyboard
have not been ignored and most operations can be carried out without the need for a mouse,
through the use of shortcut keys and the standard keyboard navigation keys.
Enhanced printing
- Simplified printer setup, defaults to standard windows printer

- Multiple graph template companies can set up their own layout
for the pump curve, and choose what technical information they wish to display on it
- Reports can be set up in Excel, and linked to project database

Technical Catalogue
Companies can include all the extra technical information normally found in a pump
catalogue together with AQUATEC so that the user is given a choice of printing out
detailed technical specifications for the selected pump.
Independent Pump Curve Database
The location of the pump curve database can be set independently within AQUATEC. (Enter
Data, Load pump database). This has the following advantages :
- The system can be set up on a network so there is one master
database of pump curves, and all users read from this.
- Individual users can set up separate directories for different
ranges of pumps
Network Version
AQUATEC '98 can be run successfully on a network. The master pump curve database can be
located on the network, and individual users can access this information from their local
version of AQUATEC.
Project Database
A revised and reworked filing system for saving project information (quotations) and
retrieving them from disk.
Pump data security
For the purposes of data security when distributing copies of AQUATEC, no user will be
able to edit pump performance curves from within AQUATEC '98. Pump curve data must be
edited in AQUATEC ver 3 or GRAFTEC . A separate pump curve module (based on the DOS
version) will be shipped together with the master version of AQUATEC '98
Pipeline Design Module
A much improved system design capability including an unlimited number of pipes in series.
Each pipe section can be analysed separately, and then combined into one system
requirement. A choice is now available to calculte friction loss based on either the Hazen
williams or Darcy Weisbach friction coefficients.
Orifice sizing
An orifice sizing calculation is available within AQUATEC, to allow the user to size a
number of different types of orifices for many applications. In addition, a feature is
available whereby the users can instruct AQUATEC to automatically size the required
orifice for a specific duty to give a minimum head rise to closed valve. The
corrected head curve for the pump will then be calculated and graphed.
On-Line Help
The documentation for AQUATEC is now in the form of an electronic help file
accessible from within the program. Each screen has a context sensitive help button
which automatically displays the help topic for that screen.
